Knowledge of basic respiratory physiotherapy
The verification will take place in presence, together with the President and the other Professors of the Integrated Course, through open oral questions.
At the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate and treat patients undergoing general, thoracic, cardiological and neurological surgery.
They will also be able to evaluate and manage the critical patient in invasive and non-invasive ventilation
Respiratory physiotherapy: definition, rational and setting.
Application of the POMR (Problem Oriented Medical Records) method to the evaluation of the surgical and intensive care patient. Assessment and pre-surgical physiotherapy. Surgery and respiratory physiotherapy. Physiotherapy in the post-surgical course of the patient with abdominal, thoracic, cardiological, neurological pathology.
Specificity of the critical area and setting of work of the physiotherapist. Respiratory failure and non-invasive ventilation. Management of non-invasive ventilation. Management of tracheotomy and invasive ventilation. Evaluation of cough and specific clearance techniques.
The Respiratory Physiotherapy in Surgery. The pulmonary re-expansion maneuvers. The Physiotherapist in Intensive Care. Respiratory Failure and Non-invasive Ventilation. Tracheostomy indications, techniques, risks-benefits.
The course will be structured with lectures with the help of slides (including several illustrations) followed by a moment at the end of each lesson, discussion on the topic treated with the possibility of questions and direct interaction with students. Deepening with exercises on the topics covered.
