Requirements:

No requirements are needed

Final Examination:
Orale

In order to verify the learning of the knowledge and skills given to the lesson, a written examination will take place. This examination will be divided into the part related to the chemistry module and the biochemistry module. The time available for taking the test is two hours. The examination will be considered to have been successfully passed if both tests (biochemistry and chemistry) have reached a sufficient score (6 for chemistry and 12 for biochemistry) and the final score will be the sum of the two votes. It will not be considered approved an exam where the test is overcome with sufficient voting only on one module, and the student will have to repeat the tests of the two modules the next session.
The exam on the chemistry module consists of 10 multiple choice questions (four possible answers of which only one is true and identifiable by the student) regarding the understanding of the topics discussed. Evaluation will be insufficient if correct answers will be less than 6; To have a sufficient rating, the questions with correct solution will have to be at least 6. No points will be removed for incorrect answers.
The biochemistry exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions (five possible answers of which only one is true and identifiable by the student) regarding the understanding of the topics discussed. Evaluation will be insufficient if correct answers will be less than 12; To have a sufficient rating, the questions with correct solution will have to be at least 12. No points will be removed for incorrect answers.

At the request of the students, the test will be available to the students until the date of the next exam and then permanently archived for a period of five years.

Assessment:
Voto Finale

The integrated course aims to provide basic knowledge to understand the main biological and cellular phenomena in the chemistry and biochemistry.
Students will be provided with the following knowledge and skills:

CHEMISTRY Module
The course aims to provide basic knowledge on the chemistry of living organisms. Such knowledge includes the structure and organization of living matter (structure and function of the main biological macromolecules).

Biochemistry Module
The course aims to provide the key information needed to understand the principles of biochemical knowledge applied to sport and fitness activities.

CHEMISTRY Module
The structure of the atom and notes about radioactivity. Chemical ties. States of matter and their property. Thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. Water, Solutions and Their Properties. Chemical equilibrium. Acids and bases. Organic swabs. Electrochemistry.
Description and main reactions of alcohols, alkanes, alkenes, aromatic compounds, alcohols, thiols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, anhydrides, amides and amines. Stereochemistry. Carbohydrates. Lipids. Amino acids and protein structure. Nucleotides.
Biochemistry Module Description of macromolecules with storage and structure functions of biological interest. Oxygen carriers, enzymes and mechanism of action, metabolism in the skeletal muscle activities, contribition of carboidrates, lipids and proteins to muscle energy requirements, metabolic disorders of the skeletal muscle and liver and other organs, fatigue mechanism, molecular muscle structure, athlete's nutrition, hormones and doping.

For both modules, frontal lessons (24 hours, 12 frontal lectures for the chemistry module and 40 hours, 20 frontal lectures for the biochemistry module) are foreseen for slides projection (tend to be in Italian but in case of material Recent publication, also in English). During the classroom discussion, students are encouraged to interact with the teachers with questions and curiosities. During the lessons the faculty will also present daily cases and facts that can explain the application / importance of the subjects of the lessons.
Students are required to attend the lessons as set out in the teaching regulations of the course and sign the attendance sheet to be able to take the exam.
Teachers will commit the presentations used during the lessons and other material of interest (articles) through the University computerized platforms (eg elearning) to which students have access.

In the presentations of the teacher there may be links to web pages for further information. For student reception, make an appointment by email with the teachers.
