Basic knowledge of general chemistry and instrumental analytical chemistry is required.

MODULE A
The course aims at providing the students with the theoretical and practical tools to undertake environmental chemical analysis.

MODULE B
The course presents industrial applications of analytical chemistry. Aim of the course is to propose industrial problems and to solve them using basic knowledge in analytical chemistry. The proposed solutions must be feasible in industrial contexts.

Basic environmental chemistry
Sampling and sample treatment methods
In situ and on line measurements
Standard methods in environmental analysis

MODULE B
Pretreatment and preconcentration.
Portability of the instrumental techniques, results/costs and advantages ratios, accuracy and precision.
NIR spectroscopy: theory and industrial applications.
Some industrial applications of the main analytical techniques.
Examples of the use of statistics in industrial process control.
