Giudizio Finale

The objective of Internship 2 is to consolidate the knowledge and skills already acquired during Internship 1. The training programme includes activities carried out at the patient's bedside.
In the medical field, students must be able to welcome patients by creating an appropriate environment for interaction, take a complete medical history and formulate initial diagnostic hypotheses. They must be able to perform an accurate general physical examination, including the assessment of vital signs, and conduct specific physical examinations in the cardiac, respiratory, abdominal, vascular, neurological (motor, sensory and cranial nerves), lymph node and osteoarticular areas, correlating the findings with the clinical picture. The ability to interpret basic imaging reports, such as chest X-rays and CT scans of the brain, chest and abdomen, is also required.

In the surgical area, students must be able to assess vital signs and central venous pressure, compile medical records with medical history and physical examination, interpret radiological examinations such as CT scans of the abdomen, chest and brain, perform venous and arterial blood sampling, insert peripheral venous catheters and apply sterile dressings, as well as remove stitches under sterile conditions. In addition, they will have assisted in the placement of a urinary catheter, the surgical cleaning of infected wounds, the removal of drains and a surgical procedure.
The internship takes place under the supervision of a tutor, who accompanies the student in learning diagnostic and instrumental procedures carried out directly at the patient's bedside, following the entire care process from admission to discharge.

Building on the skills acquired in Internship 1, students will deepen and refine their ability to perform a general physical examination, develop critical thinking skills with regard to laboratory tests, effectively apply patient interview techniques, and establish a proper and professional relationship.
Students will also acquire skills in writing medical records and discharge letters, using medical language and terminology in an increasingly precise and appropriate manner.
