An appropriate knowledge of the contents and historical aspects of the main religious rights is required: to this end, it is useful to have attended the courses 'Religions and Laws in the Multicultural Society' and/or 'Comparative Law of Religions' during the three-year period.
Students attending lectures are expected to discuss a paper on a topic to be agreed with the professor. The assessment of learning will take into account attendance at lectures, the level of interaction and the adequacy of elaboration and exposition, mastery in the use of specific terminology as well as the ability to justify, adequately arguing, statements and opinions.
For non-attending students, an oral examination covering the entire programme is planned. In particular, the ability to refer to the contents of the programme in a manner appropriate to the specificities of the subject, argumentative skills and technical-expressive ability will be assessed.
The final grade is awarded in thirtieths.
The course aims to address two areas: one part delves into mediation in community settings, the other into mediation in family settings.
The lectures explore theoretical aspects and practices of cultural mediation in community and family contexts in environments marked by cultural and religious diversity.
Through an interdisciplinary methodological-didactic approach, the course aims to focus on the most sensitive and conflictual issues that highlight the diversity and distance between 'new' cultural and religious presences and settling societies, with the objective of providing an overview of the mechanisms that trigger conflict.
The student, at the end of the course, will have to demonstrate that he/she possesses adequate competences in relation to the acquisition: of the fundamental principles of community and family mediation in order to acquire, as an "intercultural mediator", the ability: 1) to read and decode the religious and cultural valence of conflicts in order to prevent and manage them 2) to grasp the typical features of culturally and religiously motivated conduct and to ensure its public translation compatible with State law.
The course is dedicated to the study of community and family mediation as a space for dealing with conflictual events that is attentive both to the cultural and religious contexts to which they belong and to respect for the principles and mandatory rules of the Italian legal system. It aims to provide future mediators with the tools to frame and deal with some of the most delicate issues related to inter-cultural conflicts that are religiously connoted.
The course is divided into three modules: a first part will focus on current topics such as, for example, the role of language in mediation, mediation with respect to cyberbullying, the UN and mediation; a second part, dedicated to the family, will introduce the topic of family mediation, and then explore topics such as the Muslim family, the so-called second generations, family dynamics with respect to educational relations, and the topic of mixed marriages; a third part, dedicated to community mediation, will consider areas such as schools and the health sector; actors such as OTAN; and complex geopolitical realities.
The course consists of a total of 50 hours of lectures. Given its experimental and operational character, it will, where possible, be enriched by the contribution of specialised knowledge and expertise offered by guests from academia, public administration, religious communities and civil society.
