For the understanding of the topics covered in the course are necessary knowledge of biochemistry, physiology and anatomy. There are no constraints
prerequisites.
The final TEST involves the administration of a WRITTEN questionnaire consisting of a total of 30 MULTIPLE ANSWER questions (10 questions for each integrated course).
Each question consists of 4 options of which only one is the correct one.
There will be 1 point for each correct answer and 0 points for each wrong answer. Points are not deducted for incorrect questions.
The student has a total of 1 HOUR of time to answer all the questions.
The final mark is the result of the weighted average of the single mark of each integrated course.
This teaching is part a of the course wich allows the student to acquire knowledge to understand:
- the clinical picture and the differential diagnostics of the main pathologies of surgical interest.
- the basic elements inherent in the apparatus and the most frequent internistical related diseases to their pathophysiology and their symptoms, signs, diagnostic pathways and treatment.
The teaching is organized in the following modules:
1. General surgery 1 credits
2. Internal medicine 1 credits
3. Medical oncology 1 credits
EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Define the main reference pathologies
2. Classify clinical signs and symptoms
3. Knowing definition, epidemiology, etiology, symptoms and signs, diagnosis, prognosis and outline of therapy of the main neoplasms
The course will analyze in detail the etiopathological, pathophysiological, diagnostical and therapeutical aspects of the main surgical pathologies concerning the gastro-enteric tract, liver and biliary tract, pancreas, endocrine pathology (thyroid), breast disease, surgical approach to abdominal wall (laparotomy and laparoscopy), common surgical complications, post operative period, surgical wounds, the pathology of the abdominal wall (hernias and laparoceles), abdominal trauma, obasity

The course will be structured in lectures with slides (including different illustrations) followed by a moment of discussion about the topic of the day with the possibility of questions and direct interaction with the students.
