Attending students are allowed to take a mid-term optional examination on the topics explained during the classes; if the outcome is positive, the final oral examination will focus on the latest course topics; if the result is negative (or if students wish to improve their score), the oral examination will focus on the entire program.
The final examination for both attending students who have not taken their mid-term optional examination and non attending students will only be oral.

The course aims to teach students the necessary knowledge for understanding the operation of public institutions and some methodological tools for analysing political and institutional dynamics, also with regard to the European Union dimension.

The course of Elements of public law focuses on the basics of the Italian constitutional system with special regard to the sources of law, the institutional organization of the State, the inviolable freedoms and the organization of the Italian Regions.
The program, in particular, is structured as follows:
1. Introduction. 2. Forms of State and forms of government. 3. Supranational organizations and European Institutions. 5. The Parliament. 6. The Government. 7. The President of the Republic. 8. The Judiciary. 9. The Constitutional Court. 10. Regions and local Authorities. 11. The public Administration. 12. Individual and collective freedoms.

The textbook for the examination is: Marilisa D’Amico, Giuseppe D’Elia, Diritto costituzionale, Franco Angeli, Milano, 2012.
The lessons are based on the papers available for the students in the e-learning platform.

The course is conducted through lessons in classroom only.
