Knowledge of mechanics of solids and structures
The exam is composed of a written test and an oral examination.
The written test includes one exercise concerning the finite element method.
The oral examination, which can be accessed if the written test has obtained a minimum of 16/30, covers all the topics treated in the course.
Basic knowledge of structural theories for beams and plates.
Application of approximate methods (finite elements) for the numerical simulation of the behavior of beams and plates.
Presentation of the criteria and the most used techniques for structural consolidation.
The main topics covered are:
1. bidimensional elastic problems (4 hours)
2. structural theories for beams and plates (8 hours)
3. fundamentals of finite element method in linear elasticity (8 hours)
4. finite element for the analysis of twodimensional solids (10 hours)
5. the cracking states of the structures (8 hours)
6. consolidation techniques (10 hours)
