The course aims to make students master the analytical tools necessary for the understanding and the critical evaluation of the dynamics of labor market today. At the end of the course, students will know the main issues related to the functioning of the labor market in the new economy. They will be able to express critical evaluations about the implemented policies and to understand the meaning of data related to the labor market, developing autonomy of judgment.

The course examines relevant topics in the current panorama of the Italian and world labor market, analyzing the economic models of reference, the role of institutions and the empirical evidence. The course addresses the following topics:
- Labor supply, labor demand and equilibrium in the labor market
-The concept of the new economy and its impact on the labor market
-Education and human capital
- Discrimination on the labor market
- Salary incentives and the role of trade unions in bargaining
-Unemployment
- Regulation, legislation and labor market reforms
