EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The purpose of the 3rd year internship is to complete the acquisition of the professional competencies of the general nursing nurse. Particular attention will be given to the development of the ability to make decisions and to take responsibility for nursing care of vulnerable and fragile people in different stages of life, in different care contexts and in compliance with the deontological values and legal rules governing the professional practice.
More precisely, the professionalizing training activity allows the student to
1. recognize their own professional contribution within the health care team and compare themselves with the different role models
2. establish the professional relationship, respecting the principles and values of the person and the professional in situations of vital criticality and chronicity of disease referring, in particular, to the deontological concepts of accountability, advocacy, caring and cooperation
3. identify opportunities to promote the health and well-being of people, ensuring safety and promoting the recovery of autonomy in complex care situations
4. identify, within the areas of practice, possible areas of nursing research
5. make decisions and solve care problems through clinical reasoning in situations of medium/high complexity.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of the first-year professionalizing internship, the student will be able to:
1. draft a nursing care plan that includes the initial assessment of the person being cared for, identification of nursing diagnoses/needs, and the most frequent goals/outcomes in critical life situations, various stages of life, and chronic disease conditions
2. perform nursing interventions in accordance with guidelines and protocols and reflect on a possible need for updating by consulting the most authoritative sources
3. identify care situations that require the initiation of a process of taking care of people with chronic illnesses
4. transmit information within the health care team using the health and nursing documentation in use
5. apply clinical risk management procedures to create and maintain a safe environment
6. respect the different levels of responsibility and expertise of health care and technical staff
7. apply key procedures to ensure the right to privacy and confidentiality of health and care information

Third year internship content is represented by experiences aimed at learning the skills necessary for high complexity care. They are represented by:
- care planning aimed at people hospitalized in different specialized care settings: maternal-child area, mental health, palliative care and critical area
- care planning for people affected by chronic-degenerative diseases with particular attention to protected discharge and continuity of care in hospital and in the territory
- performance of exercises for the identification of care priorities in the management of patients with high complexity
