An oral exam will be scheduled at the end of the course.
The exam includes a minimum of two open questions related to the topics covered during the course. Maximum duration of the test: 30 minutes.
- Epidemiology of gynecological neoplasms.
- Anti papilloma virus screening and vaccination methods
- Cervical cancer: natural history; aetiology; risk factors; cervical preneoplastic lesions; screening methods. Staging and treatment of invasive forms.
- Endometrial cancer: risk factors; endometrial hyperplasia; clinical history; diagnostic methods; staging and treatment.
- Ovarian cancers: risk factors; clinical history; diagnosis; validity and limits of ultrasound screening; staging and treatment.
- Malignant tumors of the vagina and vulva: clinical history; precancerous lesions, diagnosis. Staging and treatment of invasive forms.
- Basic knowledge of chemotherapy and radiotherapy
-Epidemiology of gynecological neoplasms (sources, data analysis)
- Anti papilloma virus screening and vaccination methods (Subtypes, mechanism of action)
- Cervical cancer: natural history; aetiology; risk factors; cervical preneoplastic lesions; screening methods. Staging (ultrasound and magnetic resonance) and treatment of invasive forms (Different types of radical hysterectomy, classification of the different surgeries, surgical approaches, sentinel node biopsy). Fertility sparing approaches and effects on future pregnancies. Chemoterapy and radiotherapy.
- Endometrial cancer: risk factors; endometrial hyperplasia; histological types; clinical history; diagnostic methods (Ultrasound, CT scan, Magnetic Resonance, Hysteroscopy); staging (FIGO and TNM) and treatment (Hysterectomy, pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy, Sentinel Lymph node biopsy). Fertility sparing treatment; medical treatment and chemotherapy
- Ovarian cancers: risk factors; clinical history; histological diagnosis; validity and limits of ultrasound screening; staging (Ultrasound, TC Scan, PET TC, laparoscopy) and treatment (Hysterectomy, Salpingo-ophorectomy, omentectomy, appendectomy, pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy, debulking), sentinel lymph node biopsy. Chemoteraphy for epithelial and non epithelial cancers
-Malignant tumors of the vagina and vulva: clinical history; precancerous lesions, diagnosis (colposcopy, vulvoscopy, biopsies). Staging (FIGO and TNM) and treatment of invasive forms (Vulvectomy, inguinal lymphadenectomy, reconstructive surgery).

The course will be held through lectures, with presentation of slides and videos. .
It will be possible to attend the gynecologic oncologic department and the operative theatre (subject to a formal request from the student via email addressed to the Director of the Gynecology and Obstetrics departmentl) to explore specific diagnostic and surgical aspects in obstetrics and gynecology.
