Parodontal knowledge is a requirement.
Students have to take an oral exam about all of the integrated course disciplines.
The student learns the instrument’s identification and the use of them. He learns to programme the oral hygiene terapeutic procedure, plan the treatment and used the suitable instrument to remove and control every soft or mineralized deposit subgingival and supragingival.
Manual periodontal instruments. Technical characteristic of: periodontal probes, area-specific curettes, universal curettes, curettes Langer, curettes O’Heir, scalers, files, hoes, implant curette. Handgrips, support point, adaptation, activation movements, manual instrumentation techniques.
Revise of mechanical periodontal instruments. Mechanical vs hand instruments: advantages, disadvantages, indications, and contraindcations.
Manual and mechanical sharpening: materials and technique.
Polishing and periopolishing: metods and materials.
Dental sensibility: materials and treatment.
Implant patient: types of implants and related components. Periodontal and peri-implant tissue. Mucositis and perimplantitis: professional treatment, products and protocols. Features of instruments for ambulatory implant hygiene.
