Requirements: 

There are no prerequisites. Students are invited to attend the classes of the Course English Level B2* and all the additional classes that are offered during the first semester. ( 28 periods by Prof. Bertoletti, Cultore della materia

The exam is both written and oral. To pass the exam students must obtain a score equal to 18/30 in all parts equivalent to level B2 of the Common European Framework.

The written test consists of two parts: students must do a test on grammatical structures and vocabulary and must write a short composition (30 minutes), an e-mail, a report or an essay (140/170 words), students have one hour to do this part.

The oral part for all the students will be focused both on the oral presentation of ten articles about current affairs taken from quality British newspapers. (each article must be at least two pages long)

To provide students with written and oral communication skills in English – everyday English - B2 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
At the B2 level, students should be able to understand the main ideas of
complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical
discussions in their field of specialisation. They can interact with a degree of
fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers
quite possible without strain for either party. They can produce clear, detailed
text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving
the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

The thematic units generally include the following topics: Outstanding people, Survival, Talent, Life events, Chance, Around the Globe (travel and tourism, describing changes), City living (describing life in cities, Film and Tv, Houses), Dilemmas (money and finance, Crime), Discoveries (health, thought and knowledge, misunderstandings, alternative medicine) and possibilities (wishes and regrets, feelings, stories to be told).

Convenzionale

The student can prepare the grammatical part attending the language laboratory and doing personalized and targeted activities through the interactive multimedia software Tell Me More (English version) installed in the language lab (opening hours: Mon-Fri 9:00 to 17:00, Tue and Thu 17:00-21:30, Sat 9:00–12:30Students who will have used this teaching aid will get a bonus of 3 points.

There will be a 26-hour course about the main thematic topics to train students for both the written and oral exams
There will be a 28-hour course to revise grammar points.

Students with one of the certifications listed below may apply for validation to the Students’ Office in Via Ravasi 2 with a copy of the certificate and will be exempt from the exam.
The certifications highlighted with an asterisk (*) are valid for two years from the date of graduation, other certifications are valid for five years from the date of achievement.
