Degree course:
Corso di First cycle degree in ENGINEERING FOR WORK AND ENVIRONMENT SAFETY
Academic year when starting the degree:
2018/2019
Year:
2
Academic year in which the course will be held:
2019/2020
Course type:
Compulsory subjects, characteristic of the class
Credits:
9
Period:
First Semester
Standard lectures hours:
72
Detail of lecture’s hours:
Lesson (72 hours)
Requirements:

Basic calculus knowledge (including multivariable calculus, differentiation and integration of functions)

Final Examination:
Scritto e Orale Congiunti

Two final tests (written and oral) need to be passed. The written test consists of two numerical exercises with six total questions. The test is considered sufficient if you answer correctly four out of six questions. The possible topics for the written exam are: polytropic transformations of ideal gases; steam cycles; psychrometric applications; heat transfer through building walls. The time available is 90 minutes.
The oral exam lasts about 30 minutes and can cover the whole program.

Assessment:
Voto Finale

KNOWLEDGE Completion of the basic knowledge acquired in the Physics course on energy exchanges (heat and work).
ABILITY Calculate performance and results of thermodynamic transformations; evaluate thermo-hygrometric, lighting and acoustic comfort in indoor environments.

FOUNDATIONS (20 hours) Measurement units. First and second law of thermodynamics. Properties of the matter. APPLICATIONS (36 hours) Energy conversion processes: quality and degradation of energy. Psychrometric Applications. Fundamentals of heat transfer. Windows and solar radiation control. INSIGHTS (16 hours) Lighting control. Thermal comfort. Acoustics.

During the lessons the students will be provided with handouts covering the course contents. Everything is published on the website elearning.uninsubria.it
