REMEDIATION OF CONTAMINATED SITES

Degree course:
Corso di First cycle degree in ENGINEERING FOR WORK AND ENVIRONMENT SAFETY
Academic year when starting the degree:
2018/2019
Year:
2
Academic year in which the course will be held:
2019/2020
Course type:
Compulsory subjects, characteristic of the class
Credits:
9
Period:
Second semester
Standard lectures hours:
72
Detail of lecture’s hours:
Lesson (72 hours)
Requirements:

Strongly recommended the knowledge of the following subjects: Microbiology applied to the environment; Inorganic and organic chemistry; Sanitary environmental engineering; Hydraulics.

Final Examination:
Scritto e Orale Congiunti

Written exam: 5 questions with open answer (max 25/30, each question has a different mark depending on the complexity of the question itself) and 5 questions with multiple choice (max 5/30, each question has a different mark depending on the number of choices, with a little penalty in case of mistake), 1 hour and a half. An oral test, in order to better understand the real level of knowledge, could be required, only by Prof.ssa Cristiana Morosini, once corrected the written papers. The examination will be based on all the topics of the course and both applying knowledge and communication skills/making judgements will be evaluated.
Just the students regularly enrolled in the exam will be admitted.
General rules of behaviour to be adopted during examination and how to reject a mark will be explained by Prof. Eng. Cristiana Morosini before the examination itself and during frontal lectures.

Assessment:
Voto Finale

At the end of the course, the student will achieve the following results, according to what is required by the Degree Course:
- Knowledge and understanding: law understanding; knowledge of the most widespread technologies for the characterization, remediation and management of contaminated sites; achievement of the administrative and procedure steps to follow in case of site contamination.
- Applying knowledge and understanding: risk assessment; Best Available Technologies for contaminated sites remediation.
Communication skills and making judgements will be acquired as well.
