INTERNAL MEDICINE
During all the lessons, clinical cases, taken from daily practice, will be discussed, having as object the most common diseases and syndromes in the cardiovascular, pneumological, infectious, gastrointestinal, haematological, nephrological, endocrinological, diabetological and rheumatological fields.
- Harrison’s “Principi di Medicina Interna” McGraw-Hill
- C. Rugarli - Medicina Interna sistematica Ed. Masson
The lessons are based on the following scheme:
- the teacher communicates the patient's age and sex and presents the symptoms and/or signs that prompted the patient to seek medical advice, in the clinic or in the emergency room
- the students, through questions addressed to the teacher, collect the medical history, reconstruct the objective examination, propose one or more diagnostic hypotheses, define the more appropriate diagnostic procedures (haematochemical, instrumental exams, etc) to reach the definitive diagnosis and therefore the correct therapeutic strategy and the prognosis of the patient
- in addition to providing answers regarding the history, the patient's objective examination and the results of the diagnostic tests, the teacher discusses with the students the diagnostic hypotheses formulated, the most suitable haematochemical and instrumental investigations and the most appropriate therapeutic strategies
