Solid background in genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology
Written exam only, with three open questions and four multiple-choice questions. The first two questions are very general and regard whole lectures with the aim to evaluate the ability to manage with the contents. In the third question a comment is required on one of the results obtained during practical sessions to evaluate the ability to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice.
Acquisition of theoretical and operative skills with reference to morphologic-functional skills
Understanding the mechanisms of structural and functional evolution of biological sequences and structures
Acquisition of specific applicative skills with reference to all-purpose practical and instrumental procedures in biological research
Methods for the analysis of biological sequences. Methods for deterministic analysis of protein structures and their application to structure prediction.
Acquisition of suitable skills to develop and further gain deeper knowledge in the topics of the course and to improve continuous education in the field
Learning modern tools for querying biological databases
Bioinformatics resources (1 ECTS). Working with sequences (2 ECTS). Working with structures (1,5 ECTS). Genomics and beyond (1,5 ECTS)
