Knowledge of mathematical analysis and physics
verification of learning
The exam is composed of a written test and an oral examination.
The written test includes
1 exercise concerning the isostatic structures
1 or 2 exercises concerning the continuum mechanics and the problem of Saint Venant.
The oral examination, which can be accessed if the written test has obtained a minimum of 16/30, covers all the topics treated in the course.
educational goals
Knowledge of the theoretical fundamentals of mechanics of elastic solid: static, kinematics and constitutive behaviour.
Knowledge of the principles and theorems of the continuum mechanics.
Application to beams systems (isostatic and hyperstatic) and flat systems (bidimensional).
Course syllabus
The main topics covered are:
1.-Statics and kinematics of isostatic structures (16 hours).
2.-Theory of elastica of deformable structures (isostatic and hyperstatic): Principle of virtual works and elastic line equation (14 hours)
3.-Stability of equilibrium of compressed beams (8 hours).
4.-Mechanics of elastic solid (stresses and strains) (8 hours).
5.-Constitutive equations for elastic continua ( 4 hours)
6.-The linear elasticity (4 hours)
7.-Strength criteria (4 hours)
8.-Saint-Venant's problem (14 hours)
