• Complete and correct production of complex texts regarding varied topics and a good hold of cohesive and connective devices.
During the 120 hours of lesson time the following skills will be developed:
- Oral interactive communication skills in social and professional contexts
- The writing of formal and informal English texts in social and professional contexts

The Professors will revise grammar and assist the acquisition of new vocabulary and communication strategies in oral and written forms, which are dealt with in the first seven units of Keynote Advanced Student’s Book e Keynote Advanced Workbook. The texts will be used from the first lesson onwards. In Inglese 2 the first 7 units will be examined. The text will be completed in the third year.
Self-guided study in the language lab and the Professor’s home study guide (provided through the university e-learning platform http://elearning3.uninsubria.it/) are also fundamental to the guided learning of this course.
Dizionari e grammatiche di riferimento (N.B.: These texts are not required but recommended in case of new acquisitions.):
- Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 9th Edition (B2 - C2) ISBN: 978-0-19-479879-2
- Larousse Concise Dictionary: Italian/ English English/Italian (Italian Edition), 2004.
- Hewings, Martin. Advanced Grammar in Use with Answers, 3rd Edition, (B2 - C2) Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, ISBN 9781107699892
The aim of the Lingua Inglese 2 course is to arrive at a B2+ level with also some C1 level competencies. Cambridge English Language Assessment recommends around 200 hours of study to pass from level B2 to level C1 of the CEFR. This provides a general idea of how much study is necessary to reach a C1 level outside of the guided teaching and practice hours in the classroom.
Students are strongly advised to employ a self study method in the language lab, following the Professor’s home study guide (through the Internet, the university e-learning platform and distance learning) and using the recommended texts and teaching material to reach the B2+ - C1 level of language competency in English.
Professor consultation hours
The day and hour that the professor will consult will be published on the university website and the course platform.
