Deep knowledge of basic Organic Chemistry, particularly with respect to aliphatic and aromatic reactivity
The final exam consists of a written test and a final oral presentation on a special topic on choice by the student
The course has the aim to provide students with advanced knowledge of Organic Synthesis including the most innovative methods for the formation of carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds
Conformational analysis of ring systems. Ring synthesis. Ring expansion and contraction processes.
Stereoselective methodologies in carbon-carbon bond formation: stereoselective formation of kinetic enalates. Alkylation of enolates. Aldol condensation from preformed enolates.
Olefination reactions.
Carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation mediated by transition metal complexes. Metathesis reactions
Total synthesis of natural products and bioactive compounds
Novel methodologies and novel reagents in Organic Synthesis
