Biography

While she was a student at the Faculty of Law, she attended in 1989 in Washington D.C. the “Orientation in the U.S. Legal System” organised by the International Law Institute in cooperation with the Georgetown University Law Center. She then attended in 1990 two courses at the Georgetown Law Center Summer school hosted by the Istituto Universitario Europeo in Fiesole. She graduated in 1992 from the School of Law at Università degli Studi of Milano, with a dissertation thesis in American Criminal Law, supervised by prof. Giorgio Marinucci, after a period of research in Washington D.C.

She has been doctorate student with grant in Italian and Comparative Criminal Law from 1993 until 1997 at the Università degli Studi of  Pavia. In September 1995 she passed the Bar Exam in Milano and became Lawyer. In 1997 she got her Phd.’s degree at the Università degli Studi in Pavia with a research thesis called “The justified use of arms in the Italian and United States’ Criminal Law”

In 2000 she was granted with a two years post-graduate scholarship given by the Università degli Studi of Milano, to work on a project study  on the “structure and evidence issues in sexual crimes”.

After winning the open competition in September 2002, since 1st November 2002 she is Research Fellow in Criminal Law at the Università dell’Insubria, Faculty of Law.

Since January 2003, she is in the editorial staff of the Juvenile Section of the Cassazione Penale Law Review.

From December 2012 until December 2018 she has been member of the Board of Administrators at the Università degli Studi dell’Insubria.

Since January 2016 key staff member of a Jean Monnet teaching Module on Personal Data Protection As A Fundamental Right In The Eu And The Digital Age

Since 2015 scientific coordinator of a cycle of Interdisciplinary Courses on Development Education, each year based on a different topic, in cooperation with UNICEF Italia

From  2007, seating first as a member of the Direction Board in the Faculty of Law of the University of Insubria and  then, since 2012, of the Direction Board in the Department Of Law, Economy and Culture of the University of Insubria.

Qualifications and awards

In 1991 granted with a Fulbright Scholarship for participating at a Master in Law at the Harvard Law School, dismissed for familiar causes. In 1992 graduated from the Università degli Studi di Milano, with  a final result of 110/110 with distinction. In 1995  Lawyer at the Bar of  Milano. In 1997 Doctor’s degree in Italian and Comparative Criminal Law at  Università degli Studi di Pavia. In 2000 winner of a two years post-graduate loan given by Università degli Studi di Milano to start a  project study on the Crimes agaist sexual freedom. In 2002 winner of an open competition announced by Università dell’Insubria to become University Research Fellow in Criminal Law, and then called by the Università degli Studi dell’Insubria di Varese - Como. Confirmed as a permanent Research Fellow in November 2005.

In 2020 she has seated as member of the Scientific Commission of the International Congress “Paideia 2020: Music and Knowledge”, online, December 2020 , part of the Progetto Farulli 100 for the Centenary celebration of Piero Farulli’s birth .

Research interest

Counterfeiting and protection from piracy Justifications and Excuses; the concept of violence in Criminal Law and the limits to the enforcement of the criminal Law; Personal data protection and criminal protection; Juveniles as authors and victims of crimes; personal data criminal protection; Restorative Justice; Terrorism and other crimes against  internal and external integrity of one or more states; Law and Art.

Personal Interests

Voluntary activities in non profit associations with a main focus on Music. Past Chairman and Artistic Director of the association called Accademia dei Piaceri campestri, and of an International Ancient Music Season in Varese.

Teaching experience

At Università dell’Insubria, she was appointed as temporary substitute professor of Criminal Law- basic course, for the 2002-2003 academical year; she has since then been appointed as temporary Professor of  Commercial Criminal Law for each academical year. Since 2006/ 2007 academical year she is adjunct professor, and appointed as Professor of Advanced Criminal Law in the course of Law  held  at the University of Insubria located in Varese.
